When I looked at my wardrobe today, my teal turtleneck in particular, I was oddly reminded of the color analysis phase of the 80s. I remember “having my colors done” when I was probably in junior high. And being incredibly disappointed that I was a “Spring.”
I didn’t like the colors in the spring swatch — salmon and yellow among them. I wanted to be a “Winter” with bold purples, magentas and greens. That said, I was never very fashion conscious so it didn’t make much difference in the end. In fact, I believe I have a number of school pictures that have me in colors very wrong for a “Spring.” There’s one in a gray blouse, another in a pale pink oxford and a third with a bright magenta sweater that makes my face look incredibly red.
Oh well. It doesn’t really matter now that I have a job in advertising where black is the go-to “color.”
